News & Alert : Samsung Windows® 7 Upgrade Program

In participating with the Windows® 7 upgrade program, any Samsung notebook PCs purchased from
June 26th 2009 thru January 31st, 2010 will be eligible for a Windows 7 upgrade. A proof of purchase
during the eligible period must be submitted in the form of a purchase receipt. Any notebook PCs
purchased outside the period is not eligible for the program. Please keep the Windows Vista Certificate
of Authenticity label located on the bottom of the notebook PC, as you will need to input the product key
on the label when registering for the upgrade program. Samsung Notebook PCs with Windows Vista®
Home Premium are eligible for Windows7 Home Premium edition and Windows Vista Business models
are eligible for Windows 7 Professional. The maximum number of upgrades per household is 25 as this
program is not tailored to support large businesses looking for volume licensing. Upgrades will start
shipping to those participants that have eligible notebook PC with submitted requests by April 30, 2010.

The customer PC’s Windows 7 product functionality and graphics performance may vary based on your
system configuration. Some product features of Windows 7, such as the ability to watch and record live
TV or navigation through the use of “touch”, may require advanced or additional hardware. If you
qualify for the upgrade media, you will receive an upgrade of the same language version and edition as
the prior version of the product. For example, if you have an English language version of Microsoft
Windows Vista Home Premium, you will receive an English language version of Microsoft Windows 7
Home Premium. The terms of this upgrade offer are subject to change at any time without notice. The
upgrade request must be submitted no later than January 31, 2010. This offer is subject to product
availability and product supplies. Important: The upgrade does not include any new PC drivers for
Windows 7. The drivers will be available for download and installation at the download center of
Samsung Computer website (www.samsungcomputer.com). Technical issues and product support will
continue to be provided by Samsung. Installation Notes: Installation for some of the Windows 7 products
may require the customer to format their hard drive. Customers should back up their files and settings
prior to the installation, or they will be erased. Samsung and Microsoft are not liable for any loss of data
because of this installation. If the customer upgraded their operating system to Windows 7 but want to
return (if permitted by their license terms) to the Windows Vista, the customer may un-install the
Windows 7 and re-install the Windows Vista using a recovery solution. Certain upgrades may not allow
the customer to retain applications, files and settings as they were in the previous installed edition of
Windows. The Windows 7 upgrade media and its product key bundled cannot be used for clean
installation. For purposes of the End User License Agreement, your installation of this software will be
considered an upgrade. The upgrade media will be undelivered or delayed if the given address or phone
number is incorrect. Please contact 1-800-SAMSUNG if the upgrade media has not arrived as expected.
